Return & Refund Policy

Counties Tyres Pukekohe (Carter's Tyres)

Effective: June 2026

1. Overview

At Counties Tyres Pukekohe, we stand behind the quality of every tyre we sell. This policy outlines the conditions under which returns, refunds, or replacements may be offered. As tyres are safety-critical products, our return policy is strict and applies only to genuine manufacturer defects.

2. Stock Availability & Backorders

We display our current supplier stock on the website, but in rare cases a tyre you've ordered may be unavailable at the time we go to fulfill your order. If this happens:

We'll contact you by phone or email within 1 business day to let you know.
You can choose to backorder — we'll secure the tyres from another supplier or our next stock delivery, and call you as soon as they're in (typically 2–7 business days).
If you'd prefer not to wait, we'll issue a full refund to your original payment method within 3 business days — no questions asked.

3. Manufacturer Warranty

All tyres sold by Counties Tyres are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, which is typically 5 years from the date of manufacture (as indicated by the DOT date stamp on the tyre sidewall). If a tyre exhibits a genuine manufacturing defect within the warranty period, we will work with you and the manufacturer to arrange a resolution.

Warranty claims are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please bring the tyre in-store for inspection.

4. What Is Covered

Manufacturing defects (e.g., sidewall separation, belt defects, bead failure)
Material defects that cause premature or abnormal wear under normal use
Tyres that do not meet the manufacturer's stated specifications

5. What Is NOT Covered

Change of mind - We do not accept returns because you changed your mind after purchase
Incorrect size selection by customer - Our team advises on the correct fitment; if you proceed against our recommendation, this is not grounds for a return
Tyres that have been fitted and used - Once mounted and driven on, tyres cannot be returned unless a manufacturing defect is identified
Damage from road hazards - Punctures, cuts, impacts, kerb damage, or running on flat/underinflated tyres
Improper use or maintenance - Overloading, incorrect inflation pressure, misalignment wear, or use outside the tyre's intended purpose
Normal wear and tear - Tyres are consumable products and wear over time with use

6. Refund & Replacement Options

If a genuine manufacturing defect is confirmed, we offer the following options depending on the circumstances:

Replacement

We may replace the defective tyre with the same or equivalent model, subject to manufacturer approval and stock availability.

Refund

A pro-rata refund may be offered based on remaining tread depth relative to the tyre's original tread. Full refunds are only issued for tyres with defects found before fitment.

All warranty claims must be assessed in-store by our team. Please do not dispose of the defective tyre as we may need to return it to the manufacturer.

7. How to Make a Claim

  1. Bring the tyre (fitted on the rim or loose) to our workshop at 63 Manukau Road, Pukekohe
  2. Provide your proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation)
  3. Our technicians will inspect the tyre and assess the claim
  4. If the defect is confirmed, we will arrange a replacement or refund as appropriate
  5. Claims requiring manufacturer approval may take 2-4 weeks to process

  • The return is arranged by contacting us first

9. Consumer Guarantees Act (NZ)
